Jim McNally, PhD

Dr. McNally leads the development and execution of ATA strategies to enter new markets and to deliver optical communications systems with commercial and military applications. He is a seasoned executive, serial entrepreneur, and angel investor. He has extensive experience in forming and leading organizations, penetrating new markets, and managing large programs in commercial and defense industries, including complex space-based optical systems, ground-based surveillance systems, and sophisticated airborne laser systems. Dr. McNally is co-inventor on five patents and is a Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). Jim serves as a Board Director and as Chair of the Compensation Committee for TruTouch Technologies.

Prior to joining ATA, Jim served as the founding CEO and Chairman of TruTouch Technologies that developed the world’s first non-invasive alcohol measurement product recognized by TIME magazine as an Invention of the Year in 2006. He was the COO at InLight Solutions, a medical device company which developed non-invasive diagnostics with a focus on non-invasive glucose devices, and, served as the VP of Operations for SVS (acquired by Boeing). Prior to that, he led the development of the AEOS optical telescope, including a 40,000 ft2 observatory facility, 3.67m telescope, and 940-actuator adaptive optics system on Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii. He was an Associate Professor and Director of Research at the Physics Department, US Air Force Academy.
