Dr. Ediger joined TruTouch in December of 2016 and has helped lead the organization to develop its next generation alcohol sensors. He was CTO of Mesa Photonics from 2013-2016, working to expand their product line and conducting bench research on gas sensing projects, including serving as principal investigator on three NASA-funded SBIR/STTR projects. In early 2005, Dr. Ediger co-founded and was CTO of VeraLight, where he had a key role in the development of the first noninvasive medical device for diabetes screening. Before a decade of work in medical device commercialization at VeraLight and its parent company, InLight Solutions, he was a senior research scientist at the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health. During his fifteen-year tenure at CDRH, he created and led a laboratory that conducted research on medical applications of optics and spectroscopy. He began his professional career as a research scientist at the Naval Research Laboratory. Woody earned MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BA in physics from Gustavus Adolphus College.
